Passengers flying with Singapore Airlines are now able to select their seat via the Internet Website of the company

"An "interactive seat map" will be shown and passengers will be able to pick seats and receive confirmation via email or short message service (SMS) on their mobile phones."

This is nice self service as it frees up the check-in counter from endless discussions. May be the times when you had to stand behind the group of five trying to find the right seats and all need to sit together at the windows are finally coming to an end!
